Overview
Parent Bridge is a co-parenting coordination app designed to help two separated or divorced parents manage shared custody schedules, communicate, track expenses, and store important documents related to their children. We are committed to protecting the privacy of both parents and, most importantly, the children whose information is entrusted to us.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding your data. Please read it carefully.
This app is used by parents to store information about their minor children (names, birthdates, school details, medical notes). We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Children do not create accounts or interact with this app. See the Children's Privacy section below for more detail.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name
- A unique user identifier (assigned by our authentication system)
- An invite code (generated automatically for co-parent linking)
- Optional: phone number, date of birth, role (primary parent / co-parent)
Family and Co-Parenting Data
Once your account is linked with your co-parent, we store the following on our servers:
| Data Category | What Is Stored |
|---|---|
| Children's Profiles | Child name, date of birth, school name and grade, teacher name, allergies, health notes, school notes, extracurricular activities |
| Custody Schedule | Custody type configuration, custody calendar events, schedule change requests and responses, school break dates |
| Messages | All messages sent between parents, including content, sender identity, timestamps, and read status. Messages are append-only and cannot be edited or deleted. |
| Expenses | Expense descriptions, amounts, categories, dates, payment status, and who created each expense |
| Documents | Document titles, categories, and metadata. File uploads are not currently enabled; no actual files are stored on our servers in the current version. |
| Notification Preferences | Your preferences for which types of in-app notifications you receive |
Technical and Usage Data
We use Firebase (Google) as our backend infrastructure. Firebase may collect standard technical data including:
- App usage analytics (if Firebase Analytics is enabled)
- Crash reports and diagnostics
- Authentication session metadata (login timestamps, device type)
This data is collected by Firebase under Google's Privacy Policy and is used for app stability and security. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles.
Demo Mode Data
The app includes a Demo Mode that does not require an account. When using Demo Mode, all data is stored only on your device using local storage. No Demo Mode data is transmitted to our servers or to Firebase.
What We Do NOT Collect
Parent Bridge does not collect or request access to:
- Your device location (GPS or network location)
- Your contacts list
- Biometric data (Face ID, fingerprints)
- Microphone or audio
- Bluetooth or nearby devices
- Browsing history or data from other apps
We do not display third-party advertising, and we do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
Device Permissions
Parent Bridge requests the following device permissions:
| Permission | Why It Is Needed | When Prompted |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | To photograph documents (court orders, medical records, etc.) for your Document Vault | Only when you tap "Take Photo" in the Add Document screen |
| Photo Library | To select existing photos or images as document attachments in your Document Vault | Only when you tap "Choose from Library" in the Add Document screen |
You can deny these permissions. The app will continue to function normally — you will simply be unable to use the photo-based document attachment feature. You can change your permission settings at any time in your device's Settings app.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected for the following purposes:
- Providing the service: Syncing your shared custody schedule, messages, children's profiles, expenses, and documents between you and your co-parent in real time
- Account management: Creating and securing your account, linking you with your co-parent via invite code, managing authentication
- App improvement: Diagnosing crashes and improving app performance using anonymized technical data
- Communication: Sending transactional notifications (when enabled) about new messages, schedule requests, and expense updates
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the Parent Bridge service.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
With Your Co-Parent
The core purpose of this app is shared coordination. When two accounts are linked, both parents can see: the custody calendar, all messages in shared threads, children's profiles, expenses, and documents. This sharing is intentional and is the service you are signing up for.
With Firebase (Google)
All authenticated data is stored in Firebase Firestore and secured using Firebase Authentication. Google processes this data as a data processor on our behalf, subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase Data Processing Terms.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, your personal identifiers (email, display name) will be removed or anonymized to the extent technically feasible and legally permitted.
Messages, expense records, schedule changes, and activity timeline entries are intentionally immutable — they cannot be edited or deleted individually. This design ensures accurate shared records for co-parenting accountability. When an account is deleted, your personal identifiers may be removed, but the shared record history may remain visible to your co-parent to preserve continuity for the child.
If both parents delete their accounts, the family data associated with that family will be deleted from our servers within 90 days.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Parent Bridge is designed for use by adults (parents). It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Children do not create accounts, log in, or interact with the app in any way.
Information about minor children (names, birthdates, school details, medical notes) is entered by their parents as part of the co-parenting coordination service. This information is accessible only to the two linked parent accounts associated with that family. It is not shared publicly, indexed, or used for any purpose other than the co-parenting record.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us directly, please contact us immediately at t2.prodesign@gmail.com and we will investigate and delete that information.
Data Security
We protect your data using industry-standard practices:
- Encryption in transit: All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS
- Encryption at rest: Firebase Firestore encrypts all stored data at rest
- Authentication: Account access is protected by Firebase Authentication with email/password credentials. Passwords are never stored in plain text.
- Access controls: Firestore Security Rules restrict each family's data so that only the two linked parent accounts can read or write it. No other user — including other app users — can access your family's data.
No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately and change your password.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data (subject to the immutable records policy described above)
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
- Objection: Object to certain processing of your data
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at t2.prodesign@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Indiana residents may have rights under Indiana's applicable privacy laws. Contact us if you wish to exercise state-specific rights.
Account Deletion
You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us at t2.prodesign@gmail.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. In-app self-service account deletion will be available in a future update.
When your account is deleted:
- Your login access is revoked immediately
- Your email address and display name are removed or anonymized
- Shared co-parenting records (messages, schedules, expenses) may remain accessible to your co-parent to ensure continuity for the child
Third-Party Services
Parent Bridge uses the following third-party services:
| Service | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication | Google LLC | User account creation and login |
| Cloud Firestore | Google LLC | Real-time data storage and sync |
| Expo (EAS) | Expo Technology, Inc. | App build and distribution infrastructure |
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs beyond what Firebase provides. We do not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, or social media SDKs.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If you are a registered user, we will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
Continued use of Parent Bridge after a policy change constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
